Anime-style traveler standing above Earth amid planets and golden orbital paths

What’s the longest trip you’ve ever taken?

My longest trip ever has lasted 60 years and four months, and it looks set to last a bit longer; fingers crossed. That’s 60.33 revolutions around the Sun and counting.

To put that in perspective, I have travelled approximately 56.71 billion kilometres on the orbital plane around the Sun, but that’s not all. As a resident of the Milky Way galaxy, I have also travelled 1.14 trillion kilometres relative to the universe at a blistering 600 kilometres per second.

I haven’t the faintest idea what distance I’ve covered travelling relative to planet Earth itself in all that time, but suffice to say it’s far, but nowhere near the distance relative to the Sun and the universe itself.

Yes, folks, we’re really moving, and it reminds me of the idiom I hear repeated so often, which is completely wrong:

Life is short!

The truth is that life is, in fact, the longest thing you will ever experience. Enjoy the trip!
