I remember a time when I regarded my cellphone as a hugely infuriating tool.

In retirement I’ve learned to tolerate and use it more often. I find the following apps which I use regularly quite handy.

• Tidal – my music streaming service.
• Shazam – used to identify music tracks playing on whatever medium  I happen to watching or listening to.
• Samsung Note – useful tool to quickly write down notes, thoughts, or paste information from elsewhere. Or write or doodle with the S-Pen.
• Supersport – to keep track of sporting events being broadcast, scores, sporting news etc.
• WhatsApp – messaging service
