It’s fairly common now to hear or read about how President Donald Trump and his administration are diminishing the office of the presidency through their constantly clownish and wildly undemocratic behaviour.
I don’t even think it’s necessary to provide examples. The instances are so frequent and conspicuous that the entire world is having a field day mocking it. Meanwhile, the behaviour persists and in fact gets more bizarre every day. It defies all logic that the president and his administration are seemingly unaware that they’re the laughingstock of the world.
The truth is that the office of the president is not being diminished, as if there were still stages left to complete the act of degrading the revered institution.
