Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

– Martin Luther King Jr.

A few days ago, I watched a short video on social media of German police officers brutally assaulting a pro-Palestinian protester. Their atrocious conduct was immediately reminiscent of the Gestapo, who routinely hounded political enemies, resistance fighters and people of Jewish origin during World War II.

Apparently, this has been going on for several years and is not limited to pro-Palestine or anti-Israel demonstrations. These savage brutes, presumably under government orders, also use the same violent methods against environmental activists. Although Germans have a fundamental right to protest, it seems the government has been applying the law selectively.

A search through YouTube will bring up dozens of clips of police brutality, especially against pro-Palestine or anti-genocide activists. The police officers appear to be under instructions to quell demonstrations with violent force because their actions are so blatant, even while being filmed by the public and the media. Men and women receive the same callous treatment, as the following video attests.

George Orwell provided us with a fitting symbol of authoritarian oppression in his book 1984 with the following chilling image:

If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—for ever.

There is no better representation of that than the German jackboot. Unfortunately it went much further than that.

While Germany is partially responsible for the First World War and wholly responsible for the second, it also has a wretched history of conducting two genocides in its recent past, one that has gone relatively under the radar between 1904 and 1908, against the Herero and Nama tribes of Namibia, then known as South West Africa.

The genocide we are all familiar with is the Holocaust perpetrated against the Jewish population during World War II. Although Germany acknowledged in 2021 that they recognized the former as a genocide and agreed to pay reparations, they have still not formally apologised.

Meanwhile, Germany has bent over backwards to apologise for the Holocaust and rightfully so. It has been apologising for decades in various ways, including building memorials and paying billions in reparations. It is still displaying remorse up to the present in various ways, some of which go beyond the pale. However, the double standard in their display of contrition towards the different sets of victims is very noticeable and raises serious questions about their motives and humility.

Germany is a significant ally of Israel. It is providing both military and diplomatic support to them despite the overwhelming consensus that Israel is conducting a genocide in Gaza, and its right-wing government is stoking settler violence in the West Bank. Now they’re helping Israel to violently suppress any resistance to their human rights violations and war crimes.

One would think that a country that has a record of conducting two previous genocides would not want to be actively supporting a third. Confoundingly, that is effectively what Germany is doing. They are undeniably complicit.

It would be fair to acknowledge that the German population as a whole should not be held liable for, nor are representative of the actions of their government. Modern governments are after all notoriously distinguished for desecrating the will of the people.

One has to wonder if the German government is justifiably terrified of Israel given their long history of assassinations and its notorious Samson Option. Or is this brutal authoritarianism a natural hangover from its appalling past?

There is a solution. Israelis have been indoctrinated over the course of seven decades to believe that they they can’t live in peace alongside the Palestinians in a state with equal rights for all.
South Africa’s transition to a peaceful democracy proves that it’s possible. The former oppressed population outnumber the oppressors many times over, yet all the fears of Black domination and vengeful retribution proved to be unfounded.
The Israelis will have to relent. It’s only a matter of time before the entire world turns against them economically, politically, and otherwise.
Current support from the West, especially that from America, is the only stumbling block to peace, equality and justice for all.
Empires time is also up, so yeah, the just solution is attainable.

I did not explicitly say one-state originally. Equal rights for all implies a one-state solution.
I also mentioned how it has been implemented in South Africa. We have one state for all who reside here.
There is no ethnic or racial separation .
I do understand that not everyone who live here buys into the new dispensation.
These hateful bigots can continue living in their past racist utopia.
The rest of us, the majority, forge ahead regardless.
The same will happen in Israel. The racist Zionists can live in hateful isolation. I’m sure Israel or Palestine or whatever the new state us called, will have it’s very own Orania.
        It’s no problem…

Here’s another answer based on this question I asked:
Do Palestinians embrace a one state solution with universal suffrage?

“Public opinion data shows that most Palestinians do not embrace a one-state solution, even one based on universal suffrage and equal rights. While disillusionment with a two-state solution is high due to settlement expansion, backing for a single, shared democratic state generally hovers around 25% to 35% in comprehensive polling.”

Sorry I took this long to respond. I’ve had a busy weekend…

Polls are notoriously misleading. It is therefore important to understand nuances and dig deeper when confronted with surface-level responses to polls particularly w.r.t. the Palestinian “issue.” Palestinians live in three separate and distinctive areas within Israel. Around 1.9 million with citizenship live in mixed cities like Haifa, Jaffa, Ramla etc. while the rest live in the Galilee in the north, the Little Triangle in the center, and the Negev desert. There are just under 3.5 million Palestinians living in the West Bank who are denied citizenship rights. Then there are 2.2 million (now reduced to 2.1 million after the genocide) living in Gaza which is effectively an open-air concentration camp (not my personal opinion, but that of Human Rights Watch and even former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert).

It’s therefore important to understand who is polled, in which area they are living, and at what period of time in the history of this region. Palestinian life (what there is of it) is not static and in constant flux. Israel conducts regular instances of ethnic cleansing, also known as “mowing the lawn” (again, not my opinion) against Palestinians. If you poll them immediately after one of these incidents, their responses are guaranteed to differ wildly from one incidence of losing loved-ones to the next. Palestinians with citizenship (although not enjoying all the same rights and privileges as Jews (similar to apartheid SA), may be more amenable to a two-state solution, although not a rule. Those constantly under attack from Israeli settler thugs less so. The overwhelming majority of Palestinians in Gaza who are constantly being killed, are even less likely to favor a one-state solution.

So, your polls need to state how the question was framed, who were polled at what period of time and where was the sample taken, before they can be taken with even a moderate level of seriousness. Also, the sample size is very important. I have seen polls with just 1800 respondents. Surely this number does not represent millions of people, even if you neglect to factor in where they reside and which atrocities they have just experienced. There are clear historical shifts in opinion over different periods of time. Depending on which poll you cite, the opinions will differ wildly from one period to another. So, Google/Gemini is not your friend.

I will again remind you (as I did on our very first encounter some time ago) to read up on the issue of land contiguity which renders the two-state solution impossible. Illegal Israeli settlers in the West Bank has forced Palestinians to live in isolated pockets of land that are surrounded by these settlements. Any future two-state solution makes it impossible for Palestinians to live on one contiguous stretch of land because of the settler encroachment. This BBC report has more on the matter.

I also encourage you to read this report from what is effectively a Jewish propaganda outlet which covers some of the nuances I mentioned about polls. It will also give you a clear indication why those in the West Bank who are accustomed to settler attacks and encroachment poll differently from those in Gaza who are used to living in enforced isolation.

Regarding your parting comments: My “dog in this fight” is my own conscience, my humanity and my ability to show empathy for people who are living under an oppressive apartheid, ethno-fascist regime and are being systematically ethnically cleansed and genocided. I don’t have to be Palestinian or Muslim to feel this way. My “dog in this fight” comes from personal experience living under South African apartheid, which I will readily admit was not nearly so onerous as the Israeli version which they seem to have perfected. In my regular online arguments with disgruntled White South Africans, many seem be in awe of the Israeli version and regularly convey opinions which seem to indicate their disappointment that the architects and enforcers of SA apartheid failed to take it to such magnanimous heights as the Zionists.

I did not claim to know Palestinians as intimately as you seem to require to be interested in their plight. All I have is a simple humanity and empathy. I know as much as I do because I’ve read widely from books by Palestinian authors such as Rashid Khalidi, Ghada Karmi, Edward Said and Susan Abulhawa. I have also read books by Jewish authors such as Ilan Pappe and I have read extensively, work from other Jewish intellectuals and academics who are strongly anti-Zionist. I also follow many Jewish and Palestinian activists online. So my “research” does not consist exclusively of Googling whatever resource confirms my bias.

So what DO Palestinians want? You might as well ask me what Indians want. I do not know for certain and no amount of research, inside out and backwards will inform me conclusively. I can tell you what Palestinians DON’T want. And that’s NOT to be oppressed, NOT to have their land stolen, NOT to be bombed regularly. NOT to have their children slaughtered en-masse. NOT to be genocided.

It’s always been about ethnic supremacy and establishing it at any cost. Unfortunately, that cost has been in mostly lives of so many thousands of innocent people.
You can continue to believe it’s about religion if that makes you comfortable and not ask too many deeper questions about your own skin in the game.

We had the same situation in South Africa yet there was still a transition of power. In fact, up until today, radical groups such as the EFF want Whites out. They are also “many.” Are they forcing a change in the status quo?
You’re still relying on BS polls and sentiment as your primary foundation of reasoning.
Zionist propaganda has done well to put this narrative out there that opposition to transition is strong on both sides. The fact is it is strong only on the Zionist side. Guess what? Your beloved polls since October 7th even reflect the hunger for war and annihilation of Palestinians among the Israeli public – 80% and more!!!
The religious claims to the land is totally bogus. It was made up, and is all part of Zionist propaganda. The bulk of the original Zionist settlers were European Ashkenazi who were mostly secular. Zionism originated as a secular movement. Don’t you find it strange that non- believers are using a religious claim to justify their theft and ethnic cleansing?
You can label facts as vitriol because it destroys your anti-religious narrative, but it does reveal that you have more ” dog in this fight” than you’re letting on.

You’re finally getting it, or most of it (or so it would seem).
It doesn’t matter how reputable the polling institution is, or how rigorous their methodology is. If those being polled are unreliable subjects then the data collected is tainted.
Polling is already poisoned by default because sentiment is not objective data. Palestinian sentiment is particularly unreliable because as your quote reveals, they are severely traumatized as a result of the oppressive and punitive conditions under which they live. Someone who is polled today may be enjoying a period of respite from the constant bombings ( mowing the lawn) and may answer positively w.r.t. wanting a two-state solution. They may lose a family member through IDF shooting or bombing the next day and in their state of grief will want nothing whatsoever to do with an Israeli. They will probably have only vengeance on their minds.
This propensity for being unreliable subjects is not their fault. They exist as perpetually traumatized victims of Israeli genocidal depravity for most of their lives. They can’t be expected to have consistent opinions about a future they’re barely allowed to dream about in peace.
So if you’re expecting polls to accurately indicate what Palestinians are feeling from day to day, you’re wasting your time. The best you can hope for is a prevailing sentiment during a brief period of peace. These periods are always brief. They’ve never known complete peace for nearly eight decades; not since the Zionist thieves expelled them from their homes and land. But I’ve already explained all this before…
You give me the impression that you don’t think much of these people because they’re religious and so must be despised.

You really must try to curb your emotion, not read into something I am neither writing or implying and actually read what I write.

I am aware of the situation.
However, the question all along has been about a solution.

You assert a one state solution, and I agree it seems the best route to take However, using our country as an historical precedent without considering deep rooted religious/cultural divides among Jews and Palestinians is shortsighted and may even be irresponsible. And it is always worth reminding ourselves that these cultural and religious claims ( for Christians as we’ll) include utterly ridiculous assertions/claims over Jerusalem.

Also you seem unwilling to acknowledge a one state solution is not the concensus view among Palestinians.

How about emptying Jerusalem, seal it off entirely, then draw a line across the middle of the country, Jews in one half, Palestinians in the other.
(Once upon a time this is more or less how colonial powers carved up Africa.)
Declare each a new sovereign state. Hold democratic elections, invest billions upon billions and see how this turns out?

I’ll wager even if this were remotely feasible, you would have riots over Jerusalem by Jews, and maybe Christians and suicide bombings by Muslim extremists.
Hamas would likely take control over the newly minted State of Palestine , and Sharia Law would be in place before you know it.

Of course, religion plays no part in any of this, right?

Perhaps you’ve forgotten that you explicitly said, “It’s tiresome because nobody is prepared to find a way to resolve the situation and whether you like it or not religion and it’s false claims underpins the entire shit pile.”
None of which is entirely true. Many individuals and organizations are trying to find a solution on both sides. However, the Israeli right-wing government enforcing a supremacist, apartheid, ethno-nationalist policy of oppression, backed to the hilt by the USA, is the main obstacle standing in the way of any solution. Incidentally, you have not once acknowledged this divisive racial and ethnic policy of the Zionist state. Why is that?

I disagree that you’re aware of the situation. I have tested that repeatedly and you have come short on many of the nuances involved.

You seem to forget or are not aware that Jews (mainly Mizrahi), Christians, Druze, and Muslims lived relatively peacefully side-by-side in the Middle East for nearly 1400 years. It was only until the Zionist (Ashkenazi) invasion/influx commencing in the late 19th and early 20th century, culminating in the 1948 Nakba, that things literally fell apart. The “deep rooted religious/cultural divide” has been there all along. It took Zionism to exploit and artificially amplify it. Their propaganda has found a receptive home in the minds of many people, including you. Zionist propaganda is the reason why the world has not turned against Israel as intensely as is currently the case. And please don’t give me that Hamas terrorist bullshit. The formation of Hamas was a direct response to fighting the yolk of oppression. It’s always the case with the West, that those resisting oppression are labeled as terrorists, while the imperialist swine of the world define themselves as conquering heroes.

A one-state solution is entirely possible. In fact it’s the most feasible solution to enable both parties to share the land equally and justly, given the current realities pertaining to illegal settler expansion and land discontiguity. It only needs for the Zionists to abandon their supremacist ideals and racial or ethnic hatred. It’s that simple. South Africa did it. Our Bantustans are no more. Except for an insignificant contingent of the population who are desperately missing their apartheid privileges, everyone else has moved on. Of course there are still problems. Why wouldn’t there be after such a dramatic shift?

Ultimately, it’s for the Palestinians and Israelis to forge the way forward. Your suggestions, however, are symptomatic of the pessimism and fear-mongering that has been instilled and nurtured by these Zionists, their agents and apologists around the world at large through almost 80 years of Zionist propaganda.

        Well, we could cite Afghanistan?

        However, enough…

My comparison of Israel’s systemic application apartheid oppression and racism to South Africa’s system is neither naive nor irrelevant. It makes one wonder why you are so terrified of even entertaining the thought when there is evidence of so much consensus by legal experts, academics, scholars, activists and organizations such as the following:
        1. The International Court of Justice (ICJ): A July 2024 advisory opinion found that Israel’s policies in the occupied territories violate international prohibitions against racial segregation and apartheid.
        2. United Nations Experts: UN Special Rapporteurs and inquiry heads, including Michael Lynk, Francesca Albanese, and Navi Pillay, have officially reported an institutionalized regime of apartheid.
        3. International Humanitarian Organizations Amnesty International & Human Rights Watch (HRW): Major reports from 2021-2022 concluded that Israeli authorities are committing crimes against humanity, specifically apartheid and persecution, across occupied territories and within Israel.
        4. The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH has reaffirmed that Israeli practices constitute an institutionalized policy of apartheid.
        5. Israeli Human Rights & Legal Groups B’Tselem, Yesh Din, and Others: Key Israeli organizations, including Breaking the Silence, Adalah, Gisha, and Physicians for Human Rights Israel, have defined the situation as a regime of “Jewish supremacy” or legal apartheid.
        6. Over 1,000 global scholars and Israeli legal experts (including Israel’s own Law Professors Forum) have acknowledged the apartheid description.
        7. Prominent voices like Hebrew University Professor Amos Goldberg and U.S. legal experts have published analyses applying the Apartheid Convention to Israel.
        8. Notable figures, including former Mossad chief Tamir Pardo and former Knesset speaker Avraham Burg, have stated that Israel enforces an apartheid system in the West Bank.
        9. The late Archbishop Desmond Tutu and former defender Benjamin Pogrund have noted the parallels between Israeli policies and historical apartheid.

What could possibly make you think that your dissenting voice shared only by the racist, supremacist Israeli state, The fascist US Administration, and their apologists will convince me to dismiss all these prominent figures and organizations?

I am all too aware of the Hamas charter and its revision. Why it would be unconvincing to some and its relevance to finding a solution to Israel’s apartheid is not clear to me. The ANC also had a charter which displeased a lot of people but that didn’t stop SA from reaching a peaceful resolution. What could you cite about Afghanistan? Please enlighten me?

The reason I cite SA as a reliable precedent for solving the Israeli-Palestine crisis is because I am familiar with it. There are however many other precedents for amicably reaching a peaceful solution from recent history, despite, I would think, of the efforts of naysayers and doomsayers such as yourself.
        1. Northern Ireland: Good Friday Agreement (1998)
        2. Franco-German Reconciliation: Élysée Treaty (1963)
        3. Colombia and the FARC Peace Accord (2016)
        4. Bosnia and Herzegovina: Dayton Accords (1995)
        5. Egypt and Israel: Camp David Accords (1978)
        6. Indonesia: Aceh Peace Agreement (2005)
        7. Papua New Guinea: Bougainville Peace Agreement (2001)

If you are truly interested, which I doubt, you can Google all these citations above. Your pessimism and denial, coupled with the cynicism that is characteristic of an obsession with religion, I suspect reveals a level of discomfort, and are all just attempts to muddy the waters. Only you can do the introspection required to uncover why it makes you so uncomfortable.

That pivot at the end compelling me, a mere observer, critic and commentator to engineer a bulleted plan to solve the crisis, fails dramatically. I should not be expected to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. There are real diplomats and problem solvers already working on this for decades whose efforts are being stymied by the right-wing Israeli government and The USA. Efforts by the USA and at the urging of Israel no doubt, are currently making headlines around the world. They seek to crush protest, curb free speech, sanction and silence the ICC and U.N. Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese, destroy International Law, and designate activist groups like Palestine Action in England as terrorist organizations. All these disturbing efforts to subvert international law and humanitarian principles speak to how terrified they are of the prospect of finding a solution. You, with your denial and pessimism, have unwittingly (or perhaps knowingly) joined that ignominious company.

At this point, further discussion is pointless. I am now weary of feeding your pessimism and denial.

I will leave you with an observation I came across recently from an Israeli Gilad Atzmon, who is a fervent anti-Zionist and now resides elsewhere. It leaves one in no doubt about Israel’s intentions:

“Earlier today, I came across an astute Israeli commentator who pointed out that Israeli policy is guided by a 9-to-1 aggression-to-diplomacy ratio. The Jewish state is engaged in an endless war against everything and everyone around it, and beyond. It kills en mass, it flattens, it assassinates leaders, journalists, intellectuals, it invests in havoc, and it dismantles the prospect of any future dialogue, let alone reconciliation. In comparison, Iran’s violence-to-diplomacy ratio stands at 1 to 9 in favour of diplomacy. Iran refrains from using its military power, and when it does, it is always measured. Iran will instead invest 90% of its energy in diplomacy. Iran will talk to its neighbours; it will only use its military as a ‘continuation of politics by other means.’

In light of the above, the astute Israeli equated the Jewish State to a psychotic, violent kid with a catastrophic speech impediment. We are basically dealing with an unbearable infant, consumed by constant tantrums that has been kicked out of every possible care system—a reckless young human infant growing into a pathological misanthropic character.

Bizarrely enough, the way in which the so-called ‘Only Democracy’ of its own kind chooses to behave is hardly a coincidence or an outcome of specific political circumstances.

This misanthropic reality is the real meaning of Jewish ‘homecoming.’ It is consistent with the Biblical homecoming narrative. It fits nicely with Jewish history, scriptures, theology and spirit. It is a natural continuation of an endless chain of Jewish historical catastrophes with just a few coffee breaks.

Netanyahu has been in power for so long only because he provides his base with this exact unruly toddler behaviour. Yet, the so-called opposition to Netanyahu—whether it is Bennett, Eizenkot, Lapid, or Liebermann—is equally composed of disturbed warmongers dedicated to the exact same misanthropic behaviour and worldview.

Yet, Israel is hardly alone. The Ziocon philosophy that has been dominating the English-speaking empire’s geopolitical adventures mirrors the Jewish State’s ‘rational’. Like the Jewish State, both the USA and Britain are committed to violence and face growing isolation and cosmic unpopularity.

In the world in which we live, the Jewish state has made a name for itself as a grossly disturbed, angry, psychotic infant throwing its toys out of the pram, yet Iran consistently proves to be the adult in the room.”

You truly don’t expect me to believe you are unfamiliar with the situation, past and present in Afghanistan?
You cannot possibly be that disingenious.

Yes, the fact all these people are working on a solution and so far zilch has materialized is telling, don’t you think?

My rejection of your claim that the Israeli /Palestinian situation is pertinant to our former situation is valid, as all we had to do was basically acknowledge the Apartheid state was illegitimate and hold democratic elections. Apart from outbreaks of regional tribal mayhem the outcome was inevitable and the TRC helped to allay many fears and bring to light much that was hidden.

So, there is no need for you to continue to bring up SA’s past. I live here and am perfectly familiar with it.

I acknowledge there is an apartheid – like situation in Israel but simply holding democratic elections will not solve the deeply entrenched cultural AND religious mores /claims which you simply refuse to address let alone accept as crucial to any eventual positive outcome.

        So, I will ask AGAIN…
I don’t need a history lesson nor any more of your deep diving Google searches or quotes, links, etc.

Please ditch the emotional vitriolic rhetoric and at least make an attempt to offer some positive input /examples that you surely must have considered as workable towards a long term peaceful coexistence.
I suggested bullet points as it tends to encourage the interlocutor to focus more and avoid the endless tomes that are so often a part of such emotionally fueled discussions.

I am well aware of the situation in Afghanistan. I fail to see how it is connected to Israeli apartheid. In any event, the Taliban is the spawn of Imperialist America which like all their imperialist creations, has turned sour.
There is no apartheid- like situation in Israel. It is the very essence of apartheid. Your ignorance of even SA apartheid and the eventual solution is wearing you down. We did not simply hold elections that magically put an end to racism and apartheid. There was a process of negotiations that went on for four years before elections.
You don’t want examples of anything because it tears your denial narratives to shreds.
Religion is a red herring and you’re reeling in that fish with remarkable sloppyness.
I’m done with this, but I’ll leave you with one final link because you seem to like YouTube so much. So what has extreme religious intolerance got to do with Palestine?
If you had bothered to follow, one of my responses indicate that Jews, Muslims and Christians had been living in perfect tolerance for 1400 years.
How long have you been living here and how much of apartheid did you experience? How were you affected personally by it? Have you got personal experience of having the boot on your neck? Or was your experience from the side of oppression and privilege?
Your arguments are becoming increasingly desperate.

My pessimism and fear mongering?” Well, we could cite Afqhanistan?

You’ve just added dishonesty to the list of qualities that define you.

I am not going to spoonfeed you about the history of 1400 years of peace. Prove that I’m lying.

I asked you very specific questions which you failed to answer. How old are you and how many years exactly did you live under apartheid rule? I also asked first on which side of apartheid is your experience.

As for me, I have very literally felt the boot on my neck during the anti-apartheid protests in the 80s from the apartheid police. I have also had tk endure nearly 30 years of unequal rights, unequal access to practically everything, and unequal access to opportunities such as jobs and education.

As for 1400 years of peace…. You will have to enlighten me on the specific historic era.
Was this post Crusades or pre?

        My age is irrelevent.
I told you I have lived here for over forty years.

It is terrible what you went through and I can now understand why you are so vehement in your approach to the Israeli /Palestinian situation.

However, none of this addresses the primary goal of the discussion. A meaningful long term solution.

The Crusades was an interruption in their coexistence.

Actually, what I went through was better than most others. So yoj can imagine their experience of apartheid. Vehemence is your perception. My passionate concern for the Palestinians stems from my inherent humanity and empathy.

For someone who criticises religion so much, how much do you know about Jews being in violation of their God’s explicit command by forming the state of Israel?

I have already answered your gotcha question. Reframing it semantically is disingenuous.

Our outlooks are informed by our very different experiences in life politically and probably socially and economically too. While we are both non-believers, our approach to religion is very different. Mine has shifted to one of understanding while yours’ remains rude, confrontational, hateful and sanctimonious. However we have reached the point where many debates over religion and politics descend into recriminations and insults. There is nothing further to be gained here.

        What is there to “understand”?
Religion is a blight and Islam is probably the worst of the rotten lot, especially when extremists take power This was the reason I mentioned Afghanistan. I could have just as easily suggested any country or militant group involved in conflict where religion plays a part.
        Boko Haram? ISIS?
You think a unified Palestine under Hamas and Sharia would be a match made in heaven?
        SMH.

I did a further quick search for this ‘peaceful existence’ you mentioned. Found nothing other than reference to sporadic periods where violence wasn’t part and parcel to some degree. Your imagined utopia is just that.

You can point fingers and judge me all day long for all I care. And I really don’t. But whatever you think or believe of me (which will almost certainly be wrong) won’t sort out Israel/Palestine, which was what my original foray on this post was all about.

Despite you sneering at and rejecting out of hand every link or citation I provided in my arguments, I have extended to you the courtesy of watching this video. I continued to watch until the end because unlike you, I am open to learning from and entertaining new information rather than confirming my biases.

I watched even though the channel description clearly identifies this video as Jewish/Zionist propaganda with the following description: “At Unpacked, we make content that explores big questions and dissect complex topics. You’ll get all the information you need to easily navigate through these complicated issues and develop informed opinions about Israel and Judaism.” The video description itself also identifies the producers as follows:
      Executive Producers:
      Michael Steinhardt
      Co-Executive Producers:
      Marc Shmuel Levine
      Iris & Shalom Maidenbaum
      Gold Level:
The Steinhardt Foundation for Jewish Life

Still, I was not deterred. My suspicions however were well founded. While the click-bait title seems to suggest a balanced or nuanced investigation, the narration is very clear about who is the victim and who is the aggressor. At times it is not even subtle. The framing is so outlandishly in favor of Israel, that it can’t possibly be considered as anything but Israeli propaganda. The fact that you thought that I would be so naive as to not spot this, is pretty arrogant. The clips and historical references were carefully selected to leave out the most incriminating aspects of the Jewish colonization, ethnic cleansing and even genocide of the Palestinians. There was nothing there that was new to me, and what was there clearly demonstrated that the video is targeted at the casual viewer; someone who has not read extensively about the history from authors on both sides of the conflict.

This latest attempt to comment on my original post confirms the red flags raised about you some time ago: you’re either remarkably credulous or an apologist for Israel, or both.

Heads up: I am not concerned with caveats, provisos, what if or buts just straightforward replies so we can dispense with enlongated lectured or history lessons at this point.
We can discuss nuances after if you want?

Let’s start with the big one:
Do you consider Israel has a right to exist. Yes/No.

The fact that you cannot discern the deliberate pro-Israeli bias and framing, is very imuch indicative of your credulity and impaired media literacy skills.

Do you really think I’m going to fall for that gotcha question? The only people who ask it are either Israelis/Zionists or apologists for them.

I’ll let Mehdi Hassan answer it as he so often eloquent does, but there are lots of similar responses from honest Jews as well on YouTube.

And just for shits and giggles, and in case you suddenly develop the urge to actually read something, here’s a philosophical take as well:

    Hassan… Hmmmm….

Well, Israel already exists as history is witness.

So let me rephrase my question.

Do you consider Israel should not exist?

What’s the matter? You have a problem with a Moslem stating a fact.

I can pojnt you to a Jewish person and a Christian saying almost exactly the same thing.

Isreal exists. And in the words of Gilad Atzmon, a Jew, “I was born many years before I realised that Israel is a state but Palestine is the country.”

I have no problems with fact or truth.
I find Hassan two faced which he has explicitly demonstrated in the past.
Furthermore he has stated he fully accepts the Qu’ran and is on record that he believes Mohammed flew to heaven on a winged beast.
        I question his credibility.

If the currently recognized State of Israel is dismantled and out of it is formed a unified country called Palestine, which includes the right of return, what is to prevent an Islamic State from being established, where Sharia is the law of the land?

Imagine that! Hassan can entertain fact and fantasy at the same time in his brain. He is surely unique, right?

Here’s Albanese saying the same thing:

What excuse are you going to dream up to dismiss her?

What is to prevent South Africa from becoming another tinpot dictatorship? Why haven’t you fled yet?

Oh, you really think he considers the Qu’ran and it’s associated idiotic drivel to be mere fantasy?
Well, try telling Hamas or the Taliban that and see how far you get!
Again, I consider Hassan two faced and lacks credibility.

Not interested in watching the video.

        “Why haven’t you fled yet?”
Because it’s a pretty good place to live…. and hopefully idiotic religion will never be part of our secular democracy.
Here’s an equally asine question. As you are so full of empathy why haven’t you enlisted in the PLO or Hamas?

You didn’t answer my question regarding the establing of an Islamic State under Sharia Law in Palestine/Israel.
Are you afraid to deal with the possiblity this could become a reality?
