Memorable albums

Daily writing prompt
What’s your all-time favorite album?

I really can’t say what my all-time favourite album is for sure. I rarely have a favourite “anything” that remains fixed forever. I am constantly discovering new music that supplants previous artists and genres that once held a position of favour. What I’m trying to say is that having a favourite anything implies stagnation and a reluctance to open oneself to new possibilities.

For this reason, I like to qualify my expression of approval for any piece of music with “my current” favourite song, band, album, or genre, etc. That particular choice may enjoy favour for a few days, weeks, a month, or more, depending on either how good it is or the ability of the next great piece to grab and hold my attention.

What I can say for sure is that I hold dear a growing list of memorable albums. Most albums contain only one or two, sometimes a few, great songs that usually become popular. In memorable albums, every single song is excellent. Here are 10 albums in no particular order, which qualify (at the time of writing):

  1. The Wall – Pink Floyd (1974)
  2. Uprising – Bob Marley & The Wailers (1980)
  3. Third Stage – Boston (1986)
  4. On Every Street – Dire Straits (1991)
  5. Scarecrow – John Mellencamp (1985)
  6. Rumours – Fleetwood Mac (1977)
  7. Nevermind – Nirvana (1991)
  8. Follow My Mind – Jimmy Cliff (1975)
  9. Dark Side of the Moon – Pink Floyd (1973)
  10. Post – Björk (1995)

This is, therefore, an excellent opportunity for me to discover an unfamiliar or new album or artist from the answers provided to this writing prompt.
