The worldview of The Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them.

This essay is mainly intended as satire. But it’s also a warning of worse things to come. Please don’t tell on me to get me fired.
The Conundrum for Christian Nationalists
For a species that frequently claims that death is a springboard to a better existence in the hereafter, we sure are apprehensive about celebrating it. As I write, the incumbent U.S. Administration is not just anxious about celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death; they’re freaking losing their corrupted minds about it.
The manufactured divide between America’s left and right has never been so stark. Threats of an impending witch hunt hang like a dark cloud over most of the country. In fact, Pam Bondi, a dipshit MAGA Picciotto masquerading as the country’s Attorney General, threatened on a recent podcast, “We will absolutely target you, go after you if you are targeting anyone with hate speech, anything, and that’s across the aisle…” She went on to state, “There’s free speech and then there’s hate speech, and there’s no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society.”
I’m not sure what that threat entails exactly, but I have a suspicion. I’ve seen what Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, unaffectionately known as Ice Barbie, can do to anyone who disses the Trump Administration (or Israel, for that matter). Let’s just say it ain’t no ICE Capades. You can expect to be skating on very thin ice before sinking into an El Salvadoran detention facility.

It’s kinda ironic that Bondi chose to target hate speech, especially since the guy whose memory she’s pretending to protect went to a lot of trouble to point out that hate speech didn’t exist. It’s also hypocritical given how the American right-wing, which Bondi emphatically represents, has repeatedly engaged in the most vile hate speech against an assortment of minority communities.
Anyhow, if Charlie Kirk was really as tight with Jesus as his Christian Nationalist acolytes are claiming, then they should really be celebrating his fortuitous reunion with the Messiah. Ironically, that quandary will go completely over their heads.
Disclosure
I really couldn’t give a damn about J D Vance, Vice President of The Fourth Reich, urging the MAGA cult to get ordinary people fired. I’m retired and I am so fortunate to not be living in the United (?) States.
I won’t be celebrating, though. I will, like many others, reserve my mockery for the absurd levels of irony prevalent before, during and after the disturbing Kirk shooting incident. I also reserve my right to mock the Trump Regierung’s desperate efforts to weaponise free speech, and the mobilisation of his security apparatus to target anyone exercising their democratic rights.
You see, I can do and say all these things because I live in a country that had to have a reset after we found out the hard way what hate does to a nation.
Your essay holds sharp edges, but it also cuts to something deeper. You remind us that power thrives on twisting words until truth itself feels slippery in our hands. You name the irony without shrinking from it – those who claim heaven fear death, those who condemn hate indulge in it. Beneath the satire is a cry for moral clarity: freedom cannot be redefined at the whim of the loudest faction. Where hate is sanctioned, justice withers; where speech is policed by hypocrisy, democracy falters. Keep writing, for your warning echoes a truth too many would rather not see.
