My October listening history from Tidal is in. The number of songs I chose to listen to from these artists appears to be just about equal. Before posting my favourite tracks, I’ll share interesting notes on some artists.
I’m sure the first four are familiar artists, but Eivor may be unknown to most people. Eivor hails from the Faroe Islands and covers a broad genre of music. She joins my increasing library of Icelandic artists. Her music appears on the television series The Last Kingdom. Eivor is popular with audiophiles for her vocal quality.
While Mark Knopfler is best known as the lead guitarist for Dire Straits, he is a pretty accomplished solo artist who has produced ten solo albums and around nine soundtrack albums, including The Princess Bride, Cal and Last Exit To Brooklyn.
Steely Dan comprises many talented artists, some well-known for their solo and collaboration careers. To mention a few, Donald Fagan, Michael McDonald, Jeff Porcaro, and Steve Gadd are accomplished singers and musicians in their own right. Aja is an album celebrated by audiophiles and music aficionados for its production quality, excellent musicianship, and instrumentation.

Mark Knopfler: Going Home from the Local Hero Soundtrack, released while he was still with Dire Straits
Steely Dan: Hey Nineteen off Gaucho which is also my favorite album.
The White Stripes: I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself off the Elephant album
Yello: Till Tomorrow, featuring Till Bronner, off the Touch Yello album.
Eivor: Trøllabundin off the Slør album.
