Without hesitation, the two books I could read repeatedly are The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams and The Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan.
The first is hilariously described as a trilogy in five parts, in which Adams’s enormous wit shines through as he writes a fictional account about the absurdity of life, the universe and everything.
The second, subitled Science as a Candle in the Dark, is a sort of manual on the scientific method and critical thinking, which, to my mind at least, should be compulsory reading in high school.
