While I was still gainfully employed, I enjoyed taking frequent road trips to various parts of the country.
I imagined that when I retired, it would become a routine.
However, since I retired just over a year ago, I’ve been preoccupied with building a listening room for my stereo equipment and a private space for myself to chill in – the fabled man cave (I hate that term).
Well, construction work is nearing completion, despite the best efforts of my building contractor to delay it even more than he’s already done. So I guess it’s time for another road trip.
I really need this break from overseeing construction work. This time, I’m accompanying my sister to visit a cousin who’s turning fifty.
We’ll be driving from Durban to Uitenhage in Port Elizabeth, where we’ll overnight, and then proceed the following morning to Sedgefield in the Western Cape for a week.
I’ve chosen a slightly longer route that takes in some of the more scenic parts of the country.
