Presidents at the Mall

The most difficult choice a politician must ever make is whether to be a hypocrite or a liar.

In just about nine months, America will be shopping for a new President. Unfortunately the shelves at Presidential Mall are rather bare. There are just two well-marketed options, among other unfashionable stock whose promotional budgets are pitifully poor in comparison.

It’s been tough trying to understand why, yet again, there are just horrible choices available to the American public. It seems that the electorate’s notorious lack of discernment, and fetish for celebrity and pomp over the years has resulted in a string of “lesser-evil” candidates being chosen to head their Empire. This year, the only real choice is between a self-proclaimed Zionist, genocidal geriatric whose cognitive faculties are in serious decline, and a rabidly racist, narcissistic conman.

Joe Biden is increasingly looking like a pathetic, forgetful old man, lost at the mall, ambling along, looking for an ice cream parlor. He just needs his minders to come fetch him before he wanders into the food court and starts the mother of all pie-fights. Donald Trump meanwhile reminds you of a grifter in garish orange make-up, who has set up a pop-up stall on the other side of the same mall, selling yet-to-be-manufactured sneakers on a pay-now/buy-later plan. The optics for both of them are not very good; they’re in fact dreadful.

If a modern American President’s main job function really, is to execute the imperialist foreign policy already decided by a shady bunch of rich assholes who pull the strings (as is often alleged), then I guess it doesn’t quite matter to the voting fodder which degenerate is elected. Considering the predetermined misery coming the way of the rest of the world, it does however matter to the rest of us who don’t like having our land and resources stolen, and 2000-pound bombs falling on us.

Both presidential candidates this year have demonstrated clearly that we should be very uneasy about the upcoming election. Joe Biden, the incumbent, is currently actively exhibiting an unhealthy appetite for death, destruction and genocide with his unequivocal support for Israel in the massacre of Palestinians. Donald Trump on the other hand is quite capable of everything Biden can unleash, but is a notorious showman who will additionally organize regular Hitler-style rallies to boast how “nobody does murder and mayhem better than him.”

American voters have however registered their displeasure recently with the growing Uncommitted voting campaign. And to their credit, large numbers of citizens have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to organize and protest issues which they feel affect them negatively. However, for some strange reason these protests are usually always about single issues such as abortion, police brutality and racial injustice. At other times Americans who are appreciatively concerned about human rights issues do come out in protest in sympathy with oppressed nations elsewhere in the world, as they are doing currently against the Israeli war crimes and genocide in Gaza.

This is all very well, but Americans have rarely, if ever come out in organized numbers to protest not only how they are governed, but more especially their dodgy electoral system and alarming foreign policy. American voters may well be comfortable with rubber stamping their fraudulent electoral system which they perceive works reasonably well for most purposes, but it is a serious detriment to the lives of people elsewhere in the world.
